ChallengeHer Serves

Calling all high school girls with big hearts and a desire to share your time and talents with others!  This year our service will include working to help the homeless, defending the most vulnerable among us – the unborn, caring for the elderly and helping women and children at a domestic shelter.

2025-2026 Schedule

Registration for 2025-2026 is now closed. Thank you for your interest in ChallengeHer Serves!

  • Work on the farm of the Homeless Garden Project in Santa Cruz.  While we will not be gardening with the program’s trainees, we will contribute to and support the mission with our work.  Rides will leave the Bay Area at 9 am, and return at 3:30 pm after lunch and a talk on why work is essential for human dignity.

  • Advocate for the unborn by standing up for life at the Planned Parenthood Clinic in Redwood City.  Return to Charwick for lunch and a talk on the right to life as the most fundamental human right.  Pick up at 1:30 pm at Charwick.

  • Work at a domestic shelter for women in Oakland, helping with the ‘Double Scrub’ of the shelter and running a fun program for the children.  Lunch in the garden, as well as a talk on Friendship.  Pick up at the shelter at 1 pm.

  • Make sure no one at Villa Siena Senior Living Community (in Mountain View) feels lonely!  Help bring elderly residents to Mass in the chapel, play cards and games,  visit with the seniors, decorate and spread Christmas cheer!  Snack and a talk on Loneliness and Solidarity before 12 noon pick up.

  • Service Weekend in Salinas/Monterey over Martin Luther King weekend.  We will be staying in Carmel Valley while working in a soup kitchen in Salinas on Saturday and a food pantry in Monterey on Sunday.

Cost: $225, which covers all shared expenses of the program, lunches and the cost of travel and lodging to the Service Weekend. All high school girls are welcome to apply. Space is limited to 15 participants so register early!
