ChallengeHer Serves

Calling all high school girls with big hearts and a desire to make a difference! Join us this year as we serve our community by helping those experiencing homelessness, spend time with the elderly, and grow in the art and practice of hospitality to bring more charity into daily life. Come share your time, talents, and joy while making new friends and having fun along the way!

2026-27 Schedule

We will work at Samaritan House until 3 pm, and then go to Charwick for a talk on the role of work in our lives and society.
Meet at 11 am at Samaritan House, 4031 Pacific Blvd., San Mateo, CA 94401
Pick up at Charwick at 4 pm.
Meet at 9:45 am for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry orientation at Our Lady of the Pillar Church, 400 Church St., Half Moon Bay. The pantry is located next to the outdoor shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Please bring a packed lunch; we will drive back to Charwick for a talk on the dignity of the person. Pick up at Charwick at 1:30 pm.
Meet at 9:30 am at Villa Siena Senior Living Community in a Halloween costume! We will start with a talk on the importance of caring for the elderly and their contribution to our lives, and then spend two hours visiting and playing games with the residents.

Pick up at 12 noon at Villa Siena.
Meet at Charwick at 10:00 am for cookie baking, decorating the Christmas tree, building the Nativity scene, etc. Lunch will be provided by Charwick. We will also have a talk on the Christian meaning of hospitality.
Service Weekend in Salinas/Monterey over Martin Luther King weekend. We will be staying in Carmel Valley while working in a soup kitchen in Salinas on Saturday and a food pantry in Monterey on Sunday.

Submit an online application and send a payment for the program fee of $225 via Zelle to CharwickCL@gmail.com. This covers all shared expenses of the program, lunches and the cost of travel and lodging to the Service Weekend. All high school girls are welcome to apply. Space is limited to 15 participants so register early! Please include the participant’s name in the Zelle payment.
